TRANSPORT INFORMATION

Located in the centre of the Iberian Peninsula, the city of Madrid can be reached by numerous means of transport. Both the communications networks and the service frequency of the different transport systems mean that you have a wide variety of options and schedules when it comes to planning your journey.

By plane: Madrid - Barajas Airport

Madrid - Barajas Airport is located 12 km north-east of the city of Madrid. It is linked to the city centre by metro, bus and road.

By train:

Thanks to Spain’s radial rail network, with its hub in Madrid, you can reach the city directly by train from any part of the country. RENFE offers a high-speed train (AVE) service from cities in Andalusia, Castile-La Mancha, Community of Valencia, Catalonia, Aragón and Castile and León.

All long-distance lines terminate at either Atocha or Chamartín.

Madrid is the “kilometre zero” for the A1, A2, A3, A4, A5 and A6 motorways. You can reach the city from any point in Spain via these and other motorways, and once close to Madrid, there is also the option of using the radial motorways.
